Processing credit cards wirelessly is mobile. It gives
the merchant freedom of being able to accept Visa, MasterCard, American
Express, and Discover anywhere and anytime from their customers without
the hassle of using wires or telephone lines.
Wireless credit card equipments provided a new revolution
system by which the payment is accepted by merchants.
Why Go Wireless?
These machines come in small lightweight sizes that can
fit enough in your pocket. With making transactions using wireless credit
card processing increases sales, saves time and reduce operating expenses.
This is because after swiping a customer's credit card
in the machine, an authorization and approval of the transaction is received
right on the spot. Also, cash is less handled in transactions thus, keeping
the merchant and customer's money safe.
Some wireless credit card machine has features called
store and forward. This service allows cards to be processed even if there
is no cellular service. The card data that was read upon swiping is stored.
In this manner, the merchant doesn't have to turn down a transaction sale.
How does wireless credit card machines process
transactions for mobile businesses?
First, enter the sale amount after swiping the customer's
credit card through the wireless credit card machine. Using a technology
related to a cell phone, the terminal connects to a radio tower and sends
the credit card information together with the amount of the purchase made.
Next, the information transferred by the terminal will
be routed to the credit card processor who passes the information to the
bank that issued the credit card. The issuing bank checks and validates
the credit card and check if the amount requested is available for the
said card. If card is valid, the amount purchased is set aside for the
merchant.
After the card is validated, the issuing bank sends an
approval or decline message to the processor, which is routed, back to
the mobile credit card machine.
The credit card machine then prints a receipt for the
customer to sign if the card is approved. The receipt becomes the physical
sales record and back-up transaction evidence of the merchant for the
said sale after the customer signs it.
Lastly, at the end of the day, the merchant can manually
"settle" his terminal, which will begin the final process of the transaction.
Once the settlement procedure is initiated, the funds
are transferred from the issuing bank. The merchant's credit card processor
then will electronically deposit the funds into his checking account.
Those who use wireless credit card machines for their
trade are able to take their business and finish transactions wherever
they want.
The purpose of having wireless credit card machine is
to make business convenient and secure for both merchant and customer.
Transactions can be done on the spot and receipts are
printed out to finalize transactions. Business can move fast and you can
easily keep up with competitors.
