- Curved stair lift. Much expensive than the straight
one. The reason is that it's custom built and hard to install. The
installation of it requires a professional installer and can't perform
self-installation.
Curved stair lifts are commonly found on hotels and other establishments
with curve staircases.
Types of Systems
- Cable system. Uses a strong steel cable. It has
disadvantage to its user because it cannot perform a smooth drive.
- Chain drive system. This system is commonly used
on heavy-duty models. It triggers a loud sound when you use it and
that is the reason why its not use on home purposes.
- Rack and Pinion System. This is usually used in
home residential stair lift. This system used a gear and teeth mechanism.
Its drive system needs to be clean regularly and need to replace the
gear oil.
- Sealed drive system. Has more advantage because
it doesn't require proper maintenance.

- Attached to the stairs. The track that can be found
on straight stair lift are made of aluminum unlike in curved stair
lift is made of steel and aluminum mixture.
- Swivel Seats. Can be found in 90 degrees and 180
degrees.
- Safety Belts. It is used to make safe the user
of stair lifts.
Installation A proper stair lift installation can ensure
the safety of the user.
- Self Installation. Some people say that self-installation
is easy, such as with those straight stair lifts, but is not preferably
advisable especially for people who don't have any knowledge and experiences.
Dangers of self-installation of stair lifts will result in unwanted
malfunction and possible accident on behalf of your family members.
- Professional Installation. Is needed if the stair
lift requires a careful installation. Like the curved stair lift,
it needs to be installed properly and carefully.
